Wiring & Connecting the Hardware: Wiring a Piezo Buzzer for Door Chime
You can use the piezo buzzer that comes with your Konnected kit to make a simple beep noise as a door chime or warning. There are a few ways to connect it.
1. Connect directly using jumper wires
Use the female to female jumper wires to connect the pins on the buzzer directly to the OUT and GND pins on the Konnected V2 Add-on panel.
You can also connect the buzzer to the OUT screw terminal, or any zone 1 – 5 on any Konnected alarm panel using male to female jumper wires.
2. Use keypad wiring to install buzzer in other parts of the house
Use two wires from your old keypad wiring to connect the buzzer in another part of the house. Keypads usually have four wires: black, red and two other colors. After disconnecting and removing the keypad from the wall, connect two of the wires to the piezo buzzer using jumper wires or terminal blocks. Back at the alarm panel, connect the two wires to an OUT or zone 1 – 5 and G, making sure that the wire going to the + side of the buzzer is the wire going to the output zone.
3. Making it buzz when a door opens
Use the native SmartLighting App to have it sound when a door opens. You can set the number, time, and tone of the buzzer in the settings for the buzzer.
